What are they?
Have you heard of flat lays? Or wedding details? You may have heard your wedding photographer talk about them or ask you to set aside things for them for your wedding day. Essentially, flat lays are a beautiful feature of your wedding gallery to showcase all the little details that personalize your wedding day and go into your getting ready the morning of your wedding. Things like your invitation suite, shoes, jewelry and rings are artfully displayed in a way that shows off the personality and style of you both as well as the feel of your wedding day.
Like me, most photographers and videographers will start their coverage capturing these details and will need them set aside in a lil box or tote bag for us to find easily beside your wedding dress once we arrive!
What do I include for mine?
This can vary and there is no wrong or right answer! Because nobody’s special things are exactly the same nor should they be. It’s part of making your gallery YOURS. You may want to include an heirloom ring that your grandma gave you. Maybe its an absolute stunning pair of shoes that are your something blue. Or maybe its your super amazing ring box that you found that fits part of your love story. If there are any special things that you are wondering, “Should I include this for Tina?”…. put it in the box!
One thing that I will always recommend that you do is include the groom’s details too. I like to give just as much attention and commemoration to his details as much as I do the bride’s! There are mutual things like your invitations or ring box or the florals that you have, but don’t forget to include the groom’s side of the details in your box for me. 🙂
You’ll probably see lots of extras in flat lay photos, either in mine or in those on social media such as wax stamps, colored ribbons, ring boxes, antique trays, hand mirrors, or colored backdrops or what is known as flat lay mats in these photos. These are all things that you do NOT have to supply or purchase for your photos. When you book with me you have access to my entire flat lay kit which includes all of these things and more.
